Five Seminarians Advance

Five Lafayette seminarians have advanced in their seminary studies this fall through the institution of Ministries. Charles William Massie, IV of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, son of Charles Massie, III and Betty Crusta Dore, was instituted into the Ministry of Acolyte at Sacred Heart School of Theology in Hales Corners, Wisconsin, by Most Reverend Anthony B. Taylor, D.D., Bishop of Little Rock, Arkansas on the 9th of October 2013. Michael Richard, of St. Bernard Church in Breaux Bridge, and Alex Albert, of Our Lady of Wisdom on the ULL campus in Lafayette, were both instituted into the Ministry of Acolyte at St. Rita Church in New Orleans on October 13, 2013 by Bishop Michael Jarrell, Bishop of Lafayette. Michael is the son of Robert Richard and Carla Martin Richard. Alex is the son of Kenneth Albert and Linda Jones Albert. Christopher Cambre, son of Rick Cambre and Sandra Allison Cambre, and David Rozas, son of Kent David Rozas and Margaret Lois Rozas, were instituted into the Ministry of Lector on October 13, 2013 at St. Rita Church in New Orleans, also by Bishop Jarrell. Chris is sponsored by St. Pius X in Lafayette, and David is sponsored by St. Peter in Carencro.

Patrick Broussard ordained a Transitional Deacon October 3rd in Rome

Congratulations to Patrick Broussard, son of Steven Broussard and Barbara Boudreaux Broussard, who was ordained October 3, 2013 into the transitional diaconate at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. Patrick will be ordained into the priesthood along with seven other Lafayette seminarians in June 2014. He is sponsored by the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette.

Come and See Weekend

Is Jesus calling you to be His priest? High school juniors and seniors, and college-aged men are invited to come and test that call at St. Joseph Seminary, April 11-13, 2014.
